Girls HS Team Rankings - Week 5
Simi Valley dominates Clovis and Unionville nips a rising FM
The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 teams in the country (25 boys and 25 girls).
Simi Valley (CA) showed up big at the Clovis Invitational, winning with 60 points and the sixth fastest total team time average on the course! They are back in a big way and currently ranked #7 in the US, of course led by US#2 Sarah Baxter, who is an unstoppable force of her own.
On the other end of the country US#2 Unionville (PA) and US#4 Fayetteville-Manlius (NY) battled once again at the Manhattan Invite, this time over 4k instead of 5k. The score was an oh-so-close 89 to 92 between the squads with US#8 Assumption (KY) third with 146 points and US#24 Pennsbury (PA) fourth with 159. Unionville has won both match-ups of the year, but despite the shorter distance, Fay-Man looks to be improving each time out and could very well be in title contention form by the end of the year. Now this is what XC is all about!
US#10 Blacksburg (VA) won another big one at Albermarle with a mere 24 points to win by over 100 points. In addition, Myers Park (NC) joins the rankings at US#25 and they could be very competitive with #16 Green Hope (NC) later in the season.
