Pamela Anderson gets set for the NYC Marathon

Pamela Anderson
is famous for wearing the red one-piece bathing suit and running down the beach on the set of "Baywatch" in the 90's. Now the 46-year-old star will trade in the sand of Los Angeles County for the concrete streets of New York City as she takes on the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday.

Anderson will be running for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization and has already raised over 43,000 in donations for the charity. Her goal is to run the marathon with a pace under 15 minutes per mile.

She has not competed a half-marathon and told the New York Daily News that her training consisted of "5-mile runs every other day" and running around 10 miles on her long run days. Although it was tough to get out the door at first, Anderson went on the Ellen DeGeneres show and explained she developed a passion for the sport.

"If you’re running two miles or twenty miles it always hurts," Anderson said. "Now I live it. I look forward to it. It’s really good. It clears my head."

On Thursday, Deadspin published a report looking at the toll of a marathon on the human body and questioned whether Anderson knew what she was getting herself into.

"Thousands will spend this Sunday throwing their internal organs into disarray. Thankfully, medical personnel will be on hand and most of the physical changes will fade" Matt McCarthy writes. "The psychological impact, however, will be much more permanent. Many will remember the race—and the charity they supported—for the rest of their lives."

Flotrack reached out to her representative and were told that Anderson is not doing any interviews at the moment. Sounds like someone is getting mentally prepared for the grueling test that awaits on Sunday. We're also not the first ones turned down by Anderson
