Flotrack news and notes!

Good morning Flotrackers! Between the time when we wake up and have our fourth cup of coffee, we like to consume all of the running news that's circulating on the so-called internet. Unlike our grandparents who still think that forwarding that spooky email chain will keep us alive, we've grown tired of sending messages back and forth about news. So, we've decided to start a newswire. This should go well.

And now the "news"

There's a marathon in North Korea, run for your life

The Live the Language Mandarin School is heading to North Korea for the running of the country's first amateur marathon. Reports indicate that the field is going to try and challenge Glorious Leader's Kim Jong Un's marathon world record of 23 minutes.

Remember that time you had hopes and dreams for the London Marathon?

BREAKING NEWS: Man goes for a run during a blizzard, people are confused

I like to think that this news team was sent out in this blizzard to try and do some "man-on-the-street-journalism" about the weather. Except there was no one to talk to because, hey, why would anyone sane be out in a blizzard? Enter this guy training for the Boston Marathon. We applaud you, Snow Jogger, but suggest looking into this crazy indoor running machine called a "treadmill," or whatever.

Big raise for the chief executive while volunteers are still, well, volunteers

The chief executive gets a pay bump while hardworking people go unpaid? You're not so different than us, United Kingdom! But seriously, we were under the impression that Thatcherism was a long-forgotten economic policy.

Run the NYC Marathon and write it off as a business trip? Why not

You know that episode of Seinfeld where George gets into an argument after he double-dips a chip? You can see where we're going with this one.

Lessons from Japan and how people watch two days worth of road racing

Open your mind hole and let this idea waggle around for a while. Could you imagine an exciting and well-covered team race through some sort of historic venue? Emphasis on the word "imagine." The odds of this happening in the U.S. are roughly the same as that snowman in your front yard coming to life and baking you a cake made of toothpaste.

Don't read this if you have a habit of WebMD'ing everything

We would have loved to see the smile on the editor's face when he read this wonderful headline.
