Friday Morning Coffee Talk
Friday Morning Coffee Talk
Happy Friday Flotrack! I told myself that I'd never mix religion or politics into Coffee Talk, but Attorney General Eric Holder has announced that he'd seek the death penalty in the case against Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. I'm no legal analyst, but here's something that isn't a debate about capital punishment. Just because he'll "seek the death penalty" doesn't mean he'll actually get it. This can be used as a bargaining chip to get the defense to change their plea from "not guilty" to "guilty" in exchange for a life sentence.
Or they could just have an old fashioned public hanging, whatever.
And now the "news"
U.S. to seek death penalty in Boston bombing case - Washington Post
I'm not going to touch this one with a ten foot pole.
Wright was recently in Austin, TX. After going for a run with Ryan Fenton, we were supposed to get lunch. Well guess who never came back?! I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, but "Hitler also promised not to invade Czechoslovakia. Welcome to the real world!"
Rupp to make mile world record attempt - Flotrack
If you were to have told me four years ago that I'd type “Hicham El Guerrouj” and “Galen Rupp” in the same sentence, I'd probably ask why you traveled back in time to tell me that.
"This will end well," said no one ever.
Why Can You Bet on the Super Bowl But Not Races? - Runner's World
For me, the most exciting race of the year was when I made a $20 side bet on whether or not Ryan Sterner could break 2:05.00 in the 800m. There's something about being financially invested rather than emotionally invested in races that adds to the excitement. Although, the two aren't mutually exclusive.
Oscar Pistorius Trial to Have 24-Hour TV Channel - Runner's World
Because there's nothing else I'd rather do all day and all night.
