Penn Relays: Men's 4 X 400 Preview
The always exciting Men's 4 X 400 at Penn Relays will not disappoint this year. With an absolutely loaded field that includes powerhouses Texas A&M, LSU, St. Augustine's (the DII Power), Pittsburgh, Oregon, plus UTech from Jamaica, this will be quite the dogfight.
Below we run down the best 400-meter runners from each school and provide a brief projection of the top teams.
Texas A&M | LSU | St. Augustine's |
Deon Lendore (44.90) Carlyle Roudette (45.77) Deon Hickey (47.52) Aldrich Bailey Jr.(45.19- Maybe)? Bralon Taplin (45.36) Greg Coleman (47.20) |
Vernon Norwood (45.39) Darrell Bush (46.15) Quincy Downing (45.87) Cyril Grayson (47.00) |
Joshua Edmonds (46.71) James Quarles (46.06) Roxroy Cato (46.97) Kevaughn Hewitt (47.42) Burkheart Ellis (45.99) Elhadji Mbow (47.84) |
Pittsburgh | Oregon |
Brycen Spratling (45.46) Micah Murray (46.75) Charles Ross (47.56) Carvin Nkanata (46.36) |
Mike Berry (44.75) Marcus Chambers (46.55) Jack Galpin (47.72) Arthur Delaney (47.63) |
UTech (Jamaica) | North Carolina |
Faedien Royes (46.37) Jonia McDonald (46.47) Rusheen McDonald (45.10) Nicholas Watson (20.68 200m) Julian Forte (47.18) Adolphus Nevers (47.48) |
Ceo Ways (45.93) Rilwan Alowonle (47.27) Javonte Lipsey (47.18) Kwame Donyinah (46.84) |
After looking over the PRs of all of these loaded 4 X 400 teams, I really think that UTech and Texas A&M (if they are fully loaded with Bailey and such) could push each other under the 3:00 mark.
If Florida can do it, why can't those squads?
St. Augustine's DII squad is also very deep and to be honest I think Oregon with Mike Berry on the anchor are dangerous whenever he has the stick in his hands.
BOLD PROJECTION: TWO TEAMS GO SUB-3:00
