After serving a one-year suspension, Tyson Gay is set to return to competition at the Lausanne Diamond League Meeting on July 3rd, where he’ll be running the Men's 100-meters. The 31-year-old received a one-year ban following a positive test for an anabolic steroid from May 2013.

“Lausanne has always been one of my favorite meets, and I’m thrilled to have it be my opening meet of 2014,” Gay told Lausanne Diamond League officials. “I have run fast times here. I have been training for several months, and will be ready on July 3.”

According to the press release, the three-time World Champion “cited his comfort with the meeting and the organization as one reason for choosing it for his return to competition.”

Last year in Lausanne, Gay ran 9.79 in the Men’s 100-meters to take the win over Jamaica’s Asafa Powell, who ran a season’s best of 9.88. It was the last race of the season for both men as the two served drug suspensions soon after.

Gay's ban was cut in half from the standard two-year suspension after he cooperated with USADA's investigation and disclosed a list of all the products he used at the time of the positive test. According to Sara Germano of the Wall Street Journal, USATF said that if Tyson Gay has no qualifying marks for the 2014 U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships, he could petition for inclusion before the June 16 deadline.
