Analysis:
Don’t let that soft West Virginia drawl of Coach Chris Fox deceive you. He is a psychology grad and he uses those skills well.

His Syracuse women have new recruits from 4 different states, and none of them are from New York. The guy can recruit as he has shown in North Carolina and Auburn, his stops before ‘Cuse lured him north.

Junior Margo Malone has run 33:15 for 10k, sub 16 in the 5k, and has shown her cross talent with a 49th in last year’s nationals. She did that as a sophomore. Her outstanding track season should give her the confidence she needs to lead her team back to Terre Haute. They should be very close to their 22nd place finish last year.

Senior Jessie Peterson ran 16:25 for 5k and is bound to improve her nightmare cross finish from last fall (243rd). If she can cut about 100 places off that, running on par with her teammate Meredith Speakman (110th finish last year), the Orangewomen will be very solid. Haley Cutright, a late transfer from Ole Miss, will also play a huge impact on Syracuse's quest for Terre Haute.

Freshman Mary Malone (Margo’s younger sister), has run 10:41 for 3200m in Pennsylvania last year and should team up nicely with fellow recruit Kellee McCann, a Texan who has slightly better track times with a 4:54 1600m and a 10:31 3200m.

Fox cannot only recruit, he can develop, and he has about as much high level experience himself as any coach in the NCAA. He knows how to get to the top and count on him to help his girls’ team alight there as well.
