Sarah Disanza Takes FloRunner of the Week

In the first indoor track meet of the season, Wisconsin's Sarah Disanza crushed the competition in Boston by running a 15:20 5k! She and Providence's Emily Sisson, who finished close behind in 15:21, each ran the fourth and fifth fastest indoor times in NCAA history, respectively. Disanza's performance also broke the previous school and Big Ten records set by Wisconsin's Kathy Butler in 1997.

Other FloRunner nominees:

Lincoln's pick: Tanner Anderson
The pre-race favorite delivered in Portland. Anderson controlled the pace at NXN from the beginning, running a crisp 4:35 first mile that whittled the lead pack down to just three. The North Central High (WA) senior kept his foot on the pedal all race, crossing the line first in 15:11, two seconds ahead of Olin Hacker.

Gordon's pick: Allie Ostrander
Allie Ostrander is my FloRunner of the Week after crushing the NXN field for the victory. The Alaskan-born runner shocked the deep girls field with a convincing win. Up next for Allie is basketball. No really, the NXN champ now is going to focus on running point for her bball team.

Meg's pick: GVSU 1-2-3
Kendra Foley won D2 Nationals on Saturday, beating the next competitor by six seconds. Her teammate, Allyson Winchester was that next competitor, followed closely by teammate Jessica Janecke. With GVSU going 1-2-3, the Lakers won their third consecutive NCAA title. Something's in the water over there in Grand Rapids!

James' pick: Tabor Stevens
My FloRunner of the week is Adams State's Tabor Stevens. The five-time NCAA Champ defended his cross country title this past weekend in Louisville despite poor racing conditions. The day went from good to great when his team also won their third consecutive NCAA title.

Joe's pick: Fayetteville-Manlius teams
From the shadows of the Battaglia clan headquarters (actually more like satellite offices in Syracuse, Liverpool, and DeWitt) has risen the best cross-country program in the nation. The Fayetteville-Manlius girls saw Olivia Ryan, Annika Avery, Sophia Ryan and Jenna Ferrell within four seconds of each other en route to securing their eighth title at the Nike Cross Nationals. Just hours later, junior Peter Ryan finished eighth to power the boys team to its first national title. It is the first time one school has swept NXN.
