2015 NCAA Men's 60m Preview

Cameron Burrell, Houston (PB 6.56 60m, 10.32 100m)
Last Year: 6th Indoors, N/A 100m Outdoors
Burrell has already clocked a 6.66 at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational in December and stands as one of the top returners for the indoor season. The Houston sophomore won every 60m dash in all but one meet during the 2014 indoor season. With a sixth-place NCAA final finish under his belt, Burrell has the speed and the experience to run through the rounds in Fayetteville.

Trayvon Bromell, Baylor (PB 6.65 60m, 9.97 100m)
Last Year: 10th Indoors, 1st 100m Outdoors
2014 was an incredible year for the Baylor sprinter who blew away the competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a 9.97 personal best and new world junior record as a freshman. He continued on to take silver in the 100m and a gold medal as a member of the 4x100m relay at the World Junior Championships. Bromell failed to make the final at last year’s NCAA Indoor Championships, but returns after a stellar outdoor season to do some damage as one of the favorites in 2015.

Antwan Wright, Florida (PB 6.62 60m, 10.20 100m)
Last Year: 5th Indoors, 8th 100m Outdoors
Wright returns from a stellar outdoor season that included running as the lead-off leg for the NCAA championship-winning 4x100m relay team and earning All American honors with an eighth-place finish in the 100m. He continued in June to end his sophomore season with a personal best at the USATF Outdoor Championships. He clocked an all conditions personal best mark of 10.08 in the preliminary round and went on to place sixth in the final.

Leshon Collins, Houston (PB 6.60 60m, 10.35 100m)
Last Year: 9th Indoors, N/A 100m Outdoors
In 2014, Collins’ mark of 6.60 was ranked No. 6 in the nation. He was the first Cougar to break the school record in the 2013-14 season before Burrell broke it. During the 2014 indoor season, Collins earned titles in the 60m and 200m at the American Athletic Conference Championships and set conference records in each event. He continued on to place ninth overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships, and currently holds the second-fastest mark heading into the 2015 season.

Tevin Hester, Clemson (PB 6.60 60m, 10.16 100m)
Last Year: 7th Indoors, 20th 100m Outdoors
Hester is returning from earning his first first team All American honor with a seventh-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60m. An injury-plagued outdoor season forced him to sit out of the ACC Outdoor Championships, but he was able to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 100m for the second-straight season.

Shavez Hart, Texas A&M (PB 6.65 60m, 10.11 100m)
Last Year: 16th Indoors, 6th 100m Outdoors
The senior started off the indoor season with a 6.74 60m at the Texas A&M Reveille Invitational in December. Hart returns from a 2014 outdoor season that was highlighted by four personal bests: 6.65 in the 60m, 10.11 in the 100m, and 20.35 in the 200m. With last year’s upward trend, the two-time Bahamas national champion should impress in 2015.

Devin Jenkins, Texas A&M (PB 6.61 60m, 10.16 100m)
Last Year: N/A Indoors, N/A 100m Outdoors
After transferring from Southern University in the fall, Jenkins enrolled at Texas A&M where he has already raced the 60m and 200m at the Reveille Invitational for the Aggies. The junior boasts personal bests of 6.61 in the 60m, 10.16 in the 100m, and 20.72 in the 200m. Based on the results of the 2013-14 season, Jenkins’ personal best of 6.61 currently sits as the fastest mark on the Aggie squad, ahead of All American Shavez Hart. His 10.16 personal best run last May was the 12th-fastest mark of the year heading into the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Devin Jenkins will finally get a chance to run at NCAAs due to his previous school being ineligible last year.
