Will Claye, Chaunte Lowe to Compete at Armory Track Invitational
Both Will Claye and Chaunté Lowe are set to compete on Saturday Jan. 31 in the Armory Track Invitational, a new event featuring a stacked field of professional, collegiate and high school talent to replace the former Collegiate Invitational.
Claye made his first appearance at the Armory in 2014 at the New Balance Games where he broke the facility record in the triple jump with a mark of 17.04m. In 2015, the Olympic silver medalist plans to compete in the triple jump at the Armory Track Invitational and the long jump at the NYRR Millrose Games.
Lowe is set to compete in the women’s high jump as part of a stacked field of competitors. The American record-holder will face off against Olympic silver medalist Brigetta Barrett among other fierce competitors.
Last week, USATF announced that both the Armory Track Invitational and the NYRR Millrose Games will make up half of this season’s indoor USATF Championship Series.
Highly-touted middle-distance performers Mary Cain and Ajee Wilson will also clash in the 800m and Galen Rupp will be featured in both the mile and two mile events. World Silver medalist Matt Centrowitz will represent the U.S. team on a leg of the much-anticipated international distance medley along with teams from Kenya, Ireland, New Jersey-New York Track Club, and college DMR squads from Villanova, Columbia, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Duke and Princeton.
