Did you know that seven of the top 10 NCAA cross country finishers from this past fall will be racing at Stanford? Edward Cheserek, Eric Jenkins, Futsum Zienasellassie, Stanley Kebenei, John Mascari, Blake Theroux, and Malachy Schrobilgen will be on hand to debut in their outdoor events like the steeplechase and 10k, among others.
Guys we haven’t seen in awhile like Ryan Dohner, Scott Fauble, Kirubel Erassa, and Matt McElroy, as well as NCAA All Americans Tommy Awad, Craig Lutz, Mason Ferlic, Martin Hehir, Craig Nowak, and Pierce Murphy will all be there. Will you?
The men’s 1500m field is loaded with talent like German Fernandez, Lopez Lomong, and top college guys like Kemoy Campbell, Jake Hurysz, and Sam Penzenstadler. One of the best up-and-coming steeplers Andy Bayer will be making his 2015 3k water splashing debut.
But these are only just the men. Some of the leading ladies of track and field will also be in Palo Alto testing their fitness. If middle distance is your style, then tune in to watch Maggie Vessey, along with Savannah Camacho, Chrishuna Williams, Olympian Geena Gall, Natalja Piliusina, Claudia Saunders, Erin Teschuk, and Anna Willard. For those longer distance fans, the 2014 NCAA cross country champion Kate Avery will be there, as well as last year’s 5k champ Marielle Hall, Emma Bates, Dominique Scott, Rachel Johnson and Elvin Kibet. 2014 USATF Indoor 3k Champion Gabe Grunewald leads the 5000m field, as well as Canadian Olympian Nicole Sifuentes, Tara Erdmann, Juliet Bottorff, and Neely Spence Gracey.
Everything you thought you knew about the NCAA qualifying lists (In the 800m-10,000m at least) is WRONG. Tune into Stanford Invite!
