Usain Bolt to Run at World Relays
On Tuesday, IAAF.org announced that Usain Bolt would compete for his native country of Jamaica at the IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas.
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association announced that the six-time Olympic gold medalist was chosen to compete for the national team on both days of competition in Nassau during the weekend of May 2-3.
“I’m happy to be part of the Jamaican team for the IAAF/BTC World Relays in the Bahamas. I am fit, healthy and ready to run,” Bolt said in the IAAF release.
The fastest man in the world also plans to toe the line June 13 at the adidas Grand Prix in New York City for the first time since 2008.
The IAAF World Relays is the newest edition to the Diamond League racing circuit and features more than 600 athletes from around the world who compete in five relays: 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, 4x800m and the distance medley relay. Last year’s competition saw three world records go down.
