Justyn Knight Wins ACC 1500 After Losing Shoe

Syracuse freshman Justin Knight won the ACC 1500m title on Saturday in 3:47, continuing the stellar start to his collegiate career in which he has already run 3:39 for 1500m and a school record of 13:34 in the 5k. Knight’s performance this weekend in Tallahassee was particularly notable because he won after losing his shoe midway through the race. Knight still managed to run the last 400 meters in 54.85 with just a sock on his right foot.
"It was tough because I didn't have any grip, but I knew I didn't want to come 2nd without a shoe," Knight told Cuse TV afterwards.
Athletics Canada tweeted a video of Knight running after the shoe came off. You can see a black shoe behind the pack if you look closely.
