Will Trayvon Bromell Go Pro?
Will Trayvon Bromell Go Pro?
“There’s not too many people in the history of track and field that can say they went three years without running, and made it.” - Trayvon Bromell
By most people’s standards, Trayvon Bromell has “made it". And if he hasn’t “made it” yet, the twenty year old is well on his way to it.
In episode one, Bromell discusses his unique introduction to running, as well the constant struggle with his body during his middle school years. Unable to afford the expenses of physical therapy, Trayvon and his mother took a MacGyver approach to rehabilitation. They spent their weekends building contraptions out of miscellaneous equipment bought from yard sales, with hopes of finding ways to restore strength to his atrophied leg. Despite the odds stacked against him, Bromell became the first American high schooler to run under ten seconds in the 100m. Just a year later, Bromell was crowned NCAA champion during his first year at Baylor. Since then, the sky has been the limit.
After his first year at Baylor, Bromell followed up on his outstanding rookie season, earning himself a spot on the World Championship team after finishing second in the 100m at USA’s. Bromell ran a wind-legal 9.84 in the USA semis which made him the 10th fastest man in HISTORY. Since then, there’s been one question on everyone’s mind:
Will he go pro?
That’s a question that Trayvon himself can’t even answer. At least not until Beijing is done.
Remember that one time when FloTrack raced Trayvon in a 40 yd. dash?
Episode 2 of DRIVEN: Trayvon Bromell comes out tomorrow on FloTrack. Stay tuned.
