Moving & Time Trial
Its been a busy few days for Annika and I. On Tuesday, following a smooth track workout, we signed our lease to move into a new place. We are very excited about our new place, as there is a lot more space for our growing family. It was a long, busy day lifting all of our stuff; man moving stinks! Luckily my cousin Collin is visiting us in Flagstaff and helped me with a lot of the heavy lifting. Annika was especially excited for the move in order to set up Makenzie's room, she has done a great job, as the room is a perfect fit for a little baby girl.
After getting all of the big stuff moved on Tuesday, I spent Wednesday letting my small arms recover from all the heavy/awkward lifting. Thankfully, I felt a lot better on Thursday, when Scott and I had a tough 8 mile time trial on Lake Mary Road. It took me a while to get into a rhythm, feeling pretty uncomfortable up to around 4.5 miles, but started to feel better the last few miles. I ended up finishing in 40:41, with a 4:51 last mile. I was happy to get that kind of effort in, which helped to remember the pain and discomfort that comes with the first few races of the season. So many times after long breaks, I start to get nostalgic about my past races and how great it felt to run fast. Forgetting that even in the races that go great, there's plenty of pain and discomfort involved. I'm looking forward to getting more fit in the next few weeks before starting my fall racing season with the CVS 5k in Providence, Rhode Island on September 18th.
Nothin' better than a tough workout on Lake Mary Rd!
