Kate Murphy Splits 4:37 to Lead Lake Braddock DMR Victory
With the help of a blazing-fast anchor leg from Kate Murphy, the Lake Braddock distance medley relay team ran a U.S. No. 1 time of 11:36. The performance was brought home by a monster 4:37 1600m anchor leg by Murphy, who led the Bruins to the fourth-fastest DMR ever at Penn Relays. Murphy boasts a 1600m personal best of 4:42.31, which she ran just a week prior at the LB Hall of Fame Invite.
Weini Kelati Crushes the Competition in 9:19, Penn Relays High School 3K
None of her competitors were ready for the fury that Weini Kelati unleashed Thursday in the championship 3000m race. The Heritage High School athlete blasted a 9:19 winning performance, a full 14 seconds ahead of runner-up Libby Davidson.

The Hoyas started the Championship of America Invitational races with a bang by winning the distance medley relay in 11:12 with a five-second lead on runner-up Oklahoma State. Andrea Keklak got the Hoyas started with a 3:28 1200m leg and handed off to Heather Martin, who split 55.12 for 400m. She handed off to All-American Sabrina Sutherland, who closed for a 2:05.22 800m leg and gave the stick to Katrina Coogan. She ran a solid 4:44.07 mile anchor leg to get the Hoyas on the podium.
Sammy Watson Throws Down Monster Kick to Take Mile in 4:49
The Rush-Henrietta multi-event talent closed out the final lap of the high school girls mile in a winning time of 4:49, which is just two seconds slower than her personal best of 4:47. Watson barely claimed the victory over Rachel McArthur in an all-out battle to the line. Watson, who is still relatively new to the mile, owns personal bests of 2:03 in the 800m and 54.66 in the 400m, and competes in both the long and high jump.
Anna Cockrell Blasts U.S. No. 1 in 400m Hurdles
The senior from Providence Day School threw down a U.S. No. 1 time of 57.38 in the 400m hurdles, which is just off her personal best of 56.67. The runner-up was a full second behind her. Her victory almost didn't happen—Cockrell revealed to MileSplit that she nearly missed the race on Thursday!
