The world bronze medalist is slated to lead a star-studded women’s 800m field that includes 11 women who have run 2:04 and faster, and 18 women who own a personal best of at least 2:05.

Although Martinez is returning from a tough ninth-place 1500m finish at Drake Relays, she boasts a number of solid 2016 season performances. She ran two indoor personal bests: 2:00.14 at Millrose Games and 4:04.58 at New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. And, at the World Indoor Championships, she finished fifth in the 1500m final. ...

FloTrack will LIVE-broadcast the second day of competition at the 2016 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. A quartet of Harvard women will lead the Crimson as they aim for their third-straight team title, while the Princeton men will need to hold off last year’s runner-up and 2014 champions, Cornell, to repeat on their home turf.

The Harvard Crimson have one very talented freshman to thank for their rise in the team polls this outdoor season. Thomas recorded Olympic standards in the 100m (11.30, +2.0) and 200m (22.75, +0.6) at the Florida Relays, and won three (60m, 200m, long jump) indoor Ivy League titles this winter. The 19-year-old hailing from Florence, Massachusetts, should clean up events this weekend at Princeton. ...

Olympic Qualification Looming Large At 22nd Volkswagen Prague Marathon




The question posed to Biruktayit Degefa Eshetu was straightforward and yet so complex.

How fast do you need to run in order to qualify for Ethiopia’s Olympic marathon team?

After a moment’s pause, no doubt taking in to consideration the notoriously fickle nature of team selection in East Africa, Eshetu came up with a lofty goal for Sunday’s Volkswagen Prague Marathon.

“I think I would need to run 2:21 or 2:22,” she said through her interpreter, a response which drew applause from Carlo Capalbo, President of the Prague International Marathon Organizing Committee.

Why? Should Eshetu achieve that lofty goal, not only would she break the course record but she would land in the Top 55 all-time, two achievements which should grab the attention of Ethiopian officials. ...
