NYC Parks Press Release
The Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex is pleased to announce that this year it will host its first "BIG4" track event. The "BIG4" is a series comprised of four elite level high school meets that are especially designed to cater to the individual athlete. The events in each meet allow maximum warm-up time so that each and every athlete competing, can best prepare for an optimal performance. The goal is to efficiently prepare these young athletes for success on larger stages including the New York State Championships and the Hershey Youth Indoor Nationals, both of which are also being held at Ocean Breeze.
Kicking off the 2016-2017 high school track season is the 63rd Annual Bishop Loughlin Games, which is the oldest, largest and most well-known indoor meet in the country. The meet will be the first of the "BIG4" series and will be held on December 17. Shortly following is the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival which will take place on December 30, and later the highly anticipated Ocean Breeze Freedom Games on January 7. Finally, rounding out the "BIG4" will be the Ocean Breeze Invitational which spans two days, January 28 and 29.
Last year, the "BIG4" series welcomed more than 12,000 athletes who competed in 16,000 events in which the athletes achieved more than 500 elite milesplit performances.
This year the "BIG4" series will provide a very special gift for the head coaches of each team that attends all four meets in the series.
