In his first indoor meet of the season, Eric Jenkins notched two victories 40 minutes apart. The Nike Oregon Project distance runner dabbled in shorter races at the UW Indoor Preview on Saturday.

First, Jenkins beat collegians in a tactical 1K race where he claimed the victory in 2:23.95 over a charging Isaac Cortes from Stanford.

40 minutes later, Jenkins returned to the track to win the mile against Washington All American Colby Gilbert. Once again, Jenkins held off his competitor in the final homestretch and claimed the victory in 3:58.68. The performance is just shy of Jenkins' indoor mile personal best of 3:58.11 from 2013.

The impressive double is no surprise given the workouts leading up to the meet. Five weeks ago, Jenkins' teammate and Olympic gold medalist Matt Centrowitz posted an Instagram video of the two teammates crushing mile repeats in the Dempsey.

"3 x mile --> 4:05, 4:01, 3:57. Not bad for December," Centrowitz wrote.
