NCAA champions Rhianwedd Price and Henry Wynne will make their mile season debuts live on FloTrack this weekend at Boston University.
Rhianwedd Price and Henry Wynne will return to the indoor track this weekend at the BU Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational this Friday and Saturday LIVE on FloTrack.
Price, the surprise 2015 NCAA 1500m champion, redshirted the 2016 indoor and outdoor seasons but recorded an All-American finish this fall (32nd) at the cross country championships. Her mile PB of 4:32.74 (set in 2015) made her a big threat for the individual title, but she was disqualified at the indoor championships for a line violation.
Price ran 9:33 in the 3000m at the 2017 Vanderbilt Invitational, her first crack at the longer distance. She's in good company with New Balance Boston's Megan Krumpoch in this field, and her sister Ffion--who ran 2:06 and 4:15 last spring.
The men's mile features Syracuse sub-4 miler Joel Hubbard and the reigning NCAA mile champion Henry Wynne of Virginia.
Wynne had a breakout 2016 season, winning the NCAA mile, running 3:38/13:49 outdoors, and finishing third behind Clayton Murphy and Izaic Yorks in the NCAA 1500m final. After winning the NACAC U23 Championships in July, Wynne took the fall off from cross country. He won the 3K at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invite this season in 8:06, finishing directly in front of his teammate Zach Herriott.
Hubbard broke 4:00 on this track more than once in 2016, and should become the third Orange miler to break the barrier in 2017 after teammates Adam Palamar and Justyn Knight won their respective races in Boston and Seattle last weekend in sub-4 marks.
