Darien Moore's moment in the spotlight is over nearly as quickly as it started. The 25-year-old indoor U.S. shot put champion was served with a four-year suspension from the sport by USADA for testing positive for steroid use via an in-competition urine sample taken after his March title.

The sample contained methandienone, an anabolic agent prohibited at all times by USADA and the IAAF. The four-year sanction begins on March 4, 2017, the date of both his win and his positive sample. Moore is disqualified from the win and must forfeit the $6,000 he received in prize money from USATF.

Moore improved his personal best in the shot put by over two feet to clinch his first USATF title with a mark of 20.78m (68-2 1/4). He didn't compete indoors last year and failed to advance from the preliminary round at the U.S. Olympic Trials. He was a three-time NAIA champion and multiple-time All-American in various throwing events for Valley City State (ND) and Concordia, the latter school he graduated from in 2014.

After Moore's indoor win, Concordia coach Jarred Rome said, "This is unbelievable, I have been coaching Darien (Moore) for the past four years. Darien's effort was amazing today as he beat some of the best throwers in the nation including some Olympians."

Jon Jones, the 2015 NCAA champion and first Division I champion in the history of the University of Buffalo, will be upgraded to gold.
