One of the three track and field athletes nominated for ESPY awards came away with a trophy on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. However, none of them were eligible to win Best Track Athlete.

That's because the category was canceled five years ago by ESPN, which created the annual awards show to honor the world's best athletes. Instead, Usain Bolt was recognized as the Best International Athlete.

Allyson Felix was nominated for the Best Female U.S. Olympic Athlete award.

Decathlete Ashton Eaton was among the four nominees for Best Male U.S. Olympic Athlete, but that award was given to swimmer Michael Phelps.

Though track may not have a standalone award at the ESPYs, here is at least one track athlete ESPN could have nominated in each of its main categories this year.

Best Championship Performance: Mo Farah's Rio 5K/10K Double
Best Breakthrough Athlete: Fred Kerley
Best Record-Breaking Performance: Wayde Van Niekerk's 400m WR
Best Upset: Shaunae Miller-Uibo over Allyson Felix in Rio
Best Game: Men's 1500m Olympic Final
Best Comeback Athlete: Allie Ostrander
Best Team: Oregon Women's Team
Best Moment: Abbey D'Agostino and Nikki Hamblin in Rio
