Two-Time Pentathlon Runner-Up Taliyah Brooks Finally Wins Her NCAA Crown

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (09-March) -- After two consecutive years of runner-up finishes at the NCAA DI Indoor Track & Field Championships, Arkansas senior Taliyah Brooks earned her first individual national title in the pentathlon today in College Station. She scored 4,572 points to distance early foe Nina Schultz of Kansas State, who settled for runner-up honors today with 4,467 points.

The title marks the first pentathlon gold in Arkansas program history.

Brooks was the top finisher in the 60m hurdles (8.05) and high jump (1.69m/5-6.5), second in the long jump (6.19m/20-3.75), eighth in the shot put (12.16m/39-10.75) and 14th in the 800m (2:22.44).

The 60m hurdles time improved her PB from 8.08 and the high jump mark tied her PB.

Brooks' 10 points is a nice early-meet boost for the Razorbacks, who are projected to place third in what should be a very tight team battle. Georgia and USC lead the women's form charts ahead of meet time.

Official individual results are pending and we will update this post when final.
