Gabe Grunewald Launches Brave Like Gabe Foundation With A Virtual 5K Race
Gabe Grunewald, pro runner and survivor of a rare form of cancer, is launching her new foundation with a virtual 5K race.
Brooks middle distance runner Gabe Grunewald became an icon last year when she opened up to the world about fighting her fourth bout of cancer in eight years.
The running community named her the 2017 Game Changer of the Year, and though she's still battling a rare form of cancer, the 31-year-old is continuing to give back through her new foundation, Brave Like Gabe.
The first fundraiser event for the Brave Like Gabe Foundation takes place in St. Paul, Minnesota, on May 20, but fans from across the world can participate by signing up online for the Brave Like Gabe Virtual 5K.

Participants will receive a "premium cotton race t-shirt, custom race bib and swag bag from our sponsors," as well as instructions on how to run, according to the campaign on AthleteBiz.
Proceeds from the Brave Like Gabe Foundation go to research funding for rare cancers like adenoid cystic carcinoma, which Grunewald is bravely battling today.
