Analysis:
The Wolfpack return six of the seven men who finished 17th at last year’s NCAA Championships. At the front should be the senior tandem of Elijah Moskowitz and Patrick Sheehan. At the NCAA East Preliminary meet Moskowitz was just two spots away from advancing to the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m. Sheehan broke 14 minutes for the first time in his career-running 13:57 at the end of April. He also set a lifetime best of 3:51 in the 1500m.
Shanklin was the top finisher in Louisville last year as a freshman. He redshirted the outdoor track season, but still posted times of 14:08 and 3:48 in his limited season outdoors.
Baldwin and Rutto weren’t on the NCAA squad last November, but their success on the track puts them in the mix and adds to the Wolfpack’s depth.
The group also adds Gavin Gaynor--the Princeton transfer who competed for North Carolina State on the track, but will be making his first appearance for them in cross country this fall.
