Analysis:

Georgia made school history last fall thanks to twin sisters Samantha and Jessica Drop, as their All-American finishes in Louisville marked the first time that the Bulldogs had multiple top 40 performances at the national meet. And because of their 30th and 31st place finishes, Georgia notched their best NCAA showing-- 17th-- in more than a decade.

The Drop twins are incredibly skilled at running together as a dynamic duo, so much so that they finished within two spots of each other at every meet last fall. That’s astounding on its own, particularly because they were able to finish right next to each other at NCAAs. Although Jessica had a much stronger track season of the two, the Drop package should remain intact this fall for the Dawgs.

Behind the Drops, Georgia brings back the three other members of their top five from 2017. Grace Tavani and Hailey Branch both finished top 30 at SECs, and are certainly capable of better finishes at nationals this year. The same goes for Yanely Gomez, who was 16th in the South region in 2017 after placing 52nd the season before.

With two more seasons of eligibility for the Drops remaining, things are looking up for the Dawgs. Expect them to make the leap into the top 15 for the first time since 2006.
