Colleen Quigley Withdraws From Worlds With Injury
Steeplechaser Colleen Quigley has pulled out of the 2019 World Championships with a hip injury.
Steeplechaser Colleen Quigley will not compete in Doha, Qatar, at the 2019 World Championships. Quigley posted on her Instagram page late Thursday night that a hip injury has kept her out of workouts since late August.
“While I’ve finally been able to do a little running in the last week or so, hurdling in tomorrow’s prelim is out of the question for me,” Quigley posted.
The first round of the women’s steeplechase is on Friday.
Quigley has made the last four U.S. teams in the event. In 2017 she finished in a qualifying position at the World Championships in the prelims but was disqualified. She opened this season in the steeplechase at the Prefontaine Classic, where she ran 9:11.41, just off her personal best of 9:10.27. At the U.S. Championships, she finished third behind Emma Coburn and Courtney Frerichs.
Without Quigley, the United States has three entrants in the event: Coburn, Frerichs, and Allie Ostrander.
