Flagstaff Community Rallies To Support Tommy River Puzey
Mike Smith (NAU), Ben Rosario (NAZ Elite) and Vince Sherry (Run Flagstaff) put together a virtual challenge to support local runner.
Two months ago a local Flagstaff runner, Tommy River Puzey was admitted to the ICU with respiratory issues. After several weeks of testing and a lung biopsy, doctors discovered the presence of a very rare and aggressive form of Lymphoma.
The Flagstaff community led by Mike Smith (NAU), Ben Rosario (NAZ Elite) and Vince Sherry (Run Flagstaff) have decided to put together a virtual event starting Saturday August 1st to help raise money for the Puzey family, Tommy is a husband and father to three young daughters.
We encourage the FloTrack community to rally behind Tommy's family and join the challenge over the next few days.
RUN WITH RIVS CHALLENGE
Pick a day or multiple days between August 1st and 9th and take on a challenge of your choosing. Join Rivers in the sports he adores—run, ride, hike, paddle, and/or walk for as many miles as you can to raise money for his family.
It's important to note that Rivers is not someone who asks for help, he’s usually the person offering it. Any close friend or family member will tell you that he’d rather fix this predicament himself. However, Rivs wasn’t given a choice.
Our goal is to allow his family to focus their energy on helping him heal, not be consumed with mounting medical costs. Lift them up by doing what Rivers does best—cover ground, breathe, involve friends and family, and share the journey! Share your stories with us by using these hashtags:
