Allman won the US title last year before going on to finish 7th at the World Championships. She opened her season in June, throwing 65.02m in a one-person meet.
Throws over 70-meters are rare in the current era. Since 2000, only Sandra Perkovic of Croatia and Denia Caballero of Cuba have exceeded the mark prior to Allman’s performance.
At the World Championships last year, Yaime Perez of Cuba threw 69.17m to win gold.
