William & Mary swept the Colonial Athletic Association weekly cross country honors following a pair of team titles at the CNU Regional Preview

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 20, 2022) – William & Mary swept the Colonial Athletic Association weekly cross country honors following a pair of team titles at the CNU Regional Preview. Catherine Garrison earned CAA Women’s Runner of the Week honors, and Tyler Lipps garnered CAA Men’s Runner of the Week accolades.
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Catherine Garrison, William & Mary
Freshman | Garrison, Va. / Maggie Walker HS
In her second career race, Garrison led a group of four Tribe athletes in the top four spots, claiming the CNU Regional Preview crown. She ran the 6K course in 21:48.0 to earn the individual victory and highlight a dominant Tribe performance as William & Mary totaled 16 points in winning the 17-team event.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Tyler Lipps, William & Mary
Redshirt Sophomore | Virginia Beach, Va. / Ocean Lakes HS
Lipps led the Tribe to a team title at the CNU Regional Preview with a runner-up finish in the 8K race. The redshirt sophomore covered the course in a time of 24:35.5 to lead three William & Mary student-athletes in the top five as the Tribe won the 20-team event.
Women’s Notes
Sophia Brown earned a top-10 finish at the Firetower Project to lead Charleston, finishing the 5K course in a time of 18:00.63 … Delaware earned its second straight team title, winning the GBC Fall Classic behind an individual victory from Grace Chesley (19:30.3) … Elon sent women to two meets as the Phoenix competed in the Coaching Tree Invitational at Indiana and the Adidas XC Challenge at NC State. Elon finished fourth in the team standings at the Adidas XC Challenge and fifth at the Coaching Tree Invitational behind top-20 performances from Hannah Miller and Maggie Springer … Jordan Mozie led Hampton at the CNU Regional Preview, earning a top-30 finish (28th, 24.06.0) in the 165-participant field … Hofstra defeated Saint Peter’s in a dual meet, led by Jordyn McDonnell, who won the 5K race in a time 18:31.0 … Monmouth won the team title at the Jasper Fall XC Invite, placing five runners in the top-10, including a third-place finish by Marisa Kilgarriff (22:19.4) … North Carolina A&T opened its season at the Adidas XC Challenge, with Fajr Kelly being the first Aggie to cross the finish (43rd, 20:27.3) … Kendall Hobbs was the top finisher for UNCW for the third consecutive race, clocking a time of 18:42.9 (21st) at the Adidas XC Challenge … Beighley Ayers paced Towson at the Navy Invitational, earning a top-20 finish with a time of 22:49.1 … William & Mary swept the top four spots at the CNU Regional Preview en route to a team title at the competition.

Jackson Wedge paced Charleston at the Firetower Project, earning a 39th-place finish with a time of 27:12.31 on the 8K course … Elon earned a third-place finish at the Adidas XC Challenge hosted by NC State as Andrew Miller paced the Phoenix with a top-15 finish (13th, 18:21.2) … Hampton opened its season at the CNU Regional Preview and Dugion Blackman paced the Pirates first race of the season (77th, 28:21.7) … Hofstra topped Saint Peter’s in a dual meet as Abraham Longosiwa won the 5K competition with a time of 14:16.3 … Monmouth placed five runners in the top-10 at the Jasper Fall XC Invite to take the team title, led by Louis DiLaurenzio earning a runner-up finish (25:15.7) in the competition … North Carolina A&T ran its first race this season, competing at the Adidas XC Challenge. Jordan Richardson paced the Aggies earning a top-50 finish (49th, 19:26.0) … Sam Bland clocked a personal-best 19:27.8 (51st) to lead UNCW at the Adidas XC Challenge … William & Mary placed three runners in the top five at the CNU Regional Preview to claim the team title at the event.
