True frosh decathlete Curtis Beach after 1:47.9
Frosh decathlete Curtis Beach shocked the collegiate scene this past weekend when he ran a blazing 1:47.9 split in the 4x800 at the Armory. The time, which led Duke to a new school and facility record, is one in which the best in the NCAA rarely run during indoors. We talk with Curtis about the race and his expectations going into. With his coach on hand, we ask if it makes him wonder about the open events. Curtis also talks about the transition in his training from his high school days to his freshman year at Duke.
Curtis will compete in his first full collegiate hep at the ACC Indoor Championships in two weeks. Check out part 2 of the interview where Beach talks about his goals and the chance to run against the best 800 meter runners in the country, especially Robby Andrews.
