Video interview- Desiree Davila finish second at the 2011 Boston Marathon in 2:22:38 which was an American course record at Boston. Desiree Davila broke a record that had been held by Joan Benoit Samuelson (2:22:43) since 1983. Samuelson ran today's race finishing in 2:51. With her Boston performance Desi now ranks as the third American on the all-time Marathoning list, moving ahead of Kara Goucher. Davila traded leads during later stages of the Boston Marathon and battled until the end where she lost by a narrow margin of two seconds to Kenya's Caroline Kilel. Desi is a Hanson-Brooks athlete and trains out of Rochester Hills, Michigan.
