Duane Solomon after surprise loss in the 600m at the 2013 Millrose Games

After the 2012 Outdoor season that included a 4th place finish at the Olympic Games and becoming the second fastest American 800m runner of all-time and having great 400m speed, it was expected by most that Duane Solomon would leave the Millrose Games with the win and the American record. With World Record thoughts on his own mind, Solomon experienced a surprise defeat by an unsponsored and newly graduated Erik Sowinski.
