Talk about going out with a bang. 

In the final race of the day, fans inside Franklin Field witnessed the national high school record fall in the girls 4x400m.

In a battle between Montverde Academy (FL) and Bullis School (MD), it was Montverde Academy who took down the former national record holders, setting a new U.S. high school all-time best of 3:31:68.

That demolished the previous record by nearly for seconds.

All season long, Montverde Academy (FL) and Bullis School (MD) have been fighting back in forth in the 4x400m. 

The fall of the national high school record began at Florida Relays this April where Bullis School lowered the mark to a 3:35.23. In that same race, Montverde Academy finished third in 3:37.28. A few weeks later, Bullis School lowered its mark to a 3:35.17 to take home the Penn Relay wheel.

Today was a brand new day and once again, the top two teams in the U.S. faced each other for the final time this year.

From start to finish, Montverde Academy led from the gun as Nakira Hudson, Skyler Franklin, Dasia Reed, and Alivia Williams put together a 3:31.68 performance. This improves on their season's best by nearly six seconds. 

Bullis School came in a close second, and also dipped underneath their previous best, with a 3:32.29. Union Catholic finished third in 3:41.17.
