The 50th Edition of the Prefontiane Classic continues to reveal headliners, and another three big names were announced today (4/10). Meet organizers have announced that Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Yared Nuguse and Cole Hocker will race in the Bowerman Mile in 2025.
All three placed inside the top four of the 2024 Paris Olympic 1,500m final, Cole Hocker took Olympic Gold, Nuguse earned Bronze and Ingebrigtsen finished in fourth. Ingebrigtsen would later take Olympic Gold in the men's 5,000m.

The Bowerman Mile has produced 403 sub-4 minute miles in its 25 year history, but a world record could be in the cards this year.
On the indoor circuit, Yared Nuguse broke the Indoor Mile Record at the Millrose Games. Nuguse clocked a 3:46.63 to break Yomif Kejelcha's previous mark of 3:47.01.
But just days later, at the World Indoor Tour meeting in Lievin, Ingebrigtsen took the world mark to a new level. He took over a second off of Nuguse's mark and ran 3:45.14.
The World Record belongs to Hicham El Guerrouj at 3:43.13. Ingebrigtsen and Nuguse sit third and fourth all-time on that record list. At the 2023 Prefontaine Classic, Ingebrigtsen ran 3:43.73 and Nuguse was second in 3:43.97.
Of course, we've hardly mentioned Cole Hocker. His personal best in the mile is only a 3:48.08 (from that same 2023 Pre Classic), but he has an Olympic Gold to his name. He nearly broke the Indoor World 3,000m Record at the 2025 Millrose Games, but he was out-kicked by Grant Fisher late. He is at the top of his game, and could certainly score another big win in front of his "home crowd" in his return to Eugene.
