Final Olympic Spot to be filled on Monday at 5 p.m.

Fans will be admitted free to the event and are asked to fill the West Grandstand

(Eugene, Ore., July 1, 2012) – The 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be extended one more day as Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh will have a run-off in the women’s 100 meters at 5 p.m. at Historic Hayward Field. The winner will earn the final spot on Team USA.

The USATF-sanctioned event will be shown live on NBC-TV on Monday.

Tarmoh and Felix initially raced to a dead heat for third place in the June 23 100-meter final in 11.068 seconds.

The event is free. Spectators are asked to fill the West Grandstand first. Access to the West Grandstand is on 15th Avenue by the Bowerman Building.

Because of University of Oregon summer classes and the previously scheduled tear down of the fan festival, public entry to the event is limited to two locations:

  • From the north, fans may enter at 15th Avenue and Agate Street
  • From the south, fans will use the entry at 18th Avenue and Agate Street

Those arriving by car should note that street parking around Hayward Field is limited and is 2-hour-only. University of Oregon parking lots are available by permit-only until 6 p.m.

Street closures include 18th Avenue from Agate Street to University Street; Agate Street from 18th Avenue to 15th Avenue; and University Street from 18th Avenue to 15th Avenue. No shuttles are available; fans are encouraged to use Lane Transit District’s regular bus service.

Media may enter off University Street. The media tent will be open and media passes and any parking permits will be honored on Monday.
