DII National Cross Country Rankings: 2012 Week #2

NEW ORLEANS – Adams State’s men and Augustana (S.D.)’s women stay as the No. 1 teams in the country according to the latest national rankings of NCAA Division II cross country by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The season’s busiest weekend to date will come to pass in a few days. Thirty-two ranked men’s teams and 31 ranked women’s teams are slated to be in action over the next few days.
On the men’s side, nine ranked teams, headed by No. 5 Augustana (S.D.) are expected to compete at Minnesota’s Roy Griak Invitational. Five will be at Lehigh’s Paul Short Run and the Greater Louisville Classic. No. 2 Western State and No. 4 Colorado Mines will be among four ranked DII teams at Oklahoma State’s Cowboy Jamboree. No. 1 Adams State and No. 3 Chico State travels to the Stanford Invitational.
For the nation’s women, the Roy Griak will also feature nine ranked DII women’s teams, including No. 1 and defending national champion Augustana (S.D.). The Paul Short Run will have five ranked teams and No. 4 Western State is among four ranked women’s squads to run at Oklahoma State. No. 2 Adams State will be at the Stanford Invite while No. 3 Grand Valley State will be at the Greater Louisville Classic. No. 5 Alaska Anchorage will be idle this weekend.
