Galen Rupp Defeats Leonard Korir At USATF 20K Champs; Jordan Hasay Wins

Two-time Olympic medalist Galen Rupp defeated defending New Haven Road Race champion Leonard Korir today at the Connecticut site of the 2017 USATF 20K Championships, 59:04 to 59:05. Rupp held a small lead going into the final stretch, but a fast-closing Korir nearly beat him out to the finish-line tape.

Galen Rupp To Race USATF 20K Championships On Labor Day

In a surprise announcement last night, the Faxon Law New Haven Road Race revealed that none other than Galen Rupp -- the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist for the marathon -- will race the event this Monday, September 4, in Connecticut. The race will serve as the USATF 20K Championships with $38,550 worth of prize money set to be paid out.

Galen Rupp Pulls Out Of Houston With Plantar Fasciitis

Ryan Hall's half marathon American record will last a while longer. Galen Rupp is pulling out of the Houston Half Marathon. He told event organizers that "Unfortunately I will be unable to race on Sunday due to plantar fasciitis in my foot. It is improving, but not enough to run a half marathon on. I hope to get the chance to run the Aramco Houston Half Marathon in the future."

Russia Has Been Utterly Unable To Deliver The Juice On TUEs

If Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) are some massive loophole through which athletes are allowed to take banned drugs, then Russian hackers have not exposed that yet. The latest release includes Galen Rupp and Shalane Flanagan, and it's exactly as futile as the earlier ones. Rupp's paperwork is for an exemption for asthma medication that expired in 2009, and Flanagan's is for an IV drip after she collapsed of dehydration after the Olympic Trials marathon.

BREAKING: Galen Rupp Will Run Olympic Marathon Trials

Galen Rupp has given American distance running fans the answer they so desperately craved— the U.S. 10,000m record holder will make his marathon debut at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in Los Angeles on February 13th. His appearance in the race will afford him the opportunity to double in the Olympic marathon and 10K, the latter of which Rupp maintains is his “focus.” Rupp is the reigning silver medalist in the 10,000m.

Galen Rupp sets 10K American Record

Olympic Silver Medalist and Nike Oregon Project runner Galen Rupp set the American Record in the men's 10,000-meter run as he won at the 2014 Prefontaine Classic with a time of 26:44.36. Rupp's performance is the second fastest on US soil and the 15th on the All-Time World List. This is the fastest time in the world since September 2011.
