Big 12 Championship Recap: Kansas State, Texas Claim Conference Titles
The final day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championship was a competition of upsets and redemption. The women's team race ended with an exciting battle between Kansas State and Texas. After the women's 5K, the second to last event of the day, Kansas State clinched the victory over the Longhorns with 133 points. Texas trailed for second in 128.5 points and Baylor surged ahead of Oklahoma for third-place with 123 points. Kansas State's performance marked the first team victory for the Wildcats since 2002 and ended the Longhorns' three-year streak of conference victories. The Wildcats accomplished the victory with stunning performances during the first and second day of the championship where crucial points were earned in the hammer throw, heptathlon, long jump, and javelin.
