The Boston Athletic Association (BAA) will award an extra $21,700 in prize money to five women whose net finish times placed amongst the top 15 overall and top five masters runners at the Boston Marathon despite not entering the Elite Women's Start (EWS), the organizers of the world's oldest annual marathon announced today.

Desiree Linden has filed for a trademark on the phrase "Keep Showing Up" with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office after becoming the first American woman in 33 years to win the Boston Marathon. The news was first reported by ESPN. She plans to use the phrase on athletic apparel.

In the midst of the post-race parties on Monday night, Yuki Kawauchi had a call to make. The surprise winner from Japan had been Boston Marathon champion for less than 12 hours but was concerned about work obligations back home. Kawauchi's victory meant that he was scheduled to attend the Tuesday-morning press conference in Boston, delaying his travel back to Japan.

Jordan Hasay has withdrawn from the Boston Marathon due to a stress reaction in her heel. According to the race management, Hasay had an MRI today that revealed the injury.
Drew Hunter and Nicole Sifuentes won the B.A.A. mile titles today in Boston in 4:08.2 and 4:37.2, respectively. The races each included three laps around the city block, beginning and ending on Boylston Street by the finish line for Monday's Boston Marathon.

The 36-year-old inconceivably won her first Abbott World Marathon Major seven months later at the New York City Marathon as the first American woman to do so in 40 years, and is now a favorite to break the Americans' 33-year title drought at the 2018 Boston Marathon.
