Ryan Whiting before the 2010 Bowerman Awards
Dec 15, 2010
Ryan Whiting became one of the most consistent shot putters in NCAA history in 2010 by breaking the 70 feet mark 8 times, an NCAA all-time record. Whiting just missed the NCAA record for the furthest mark, but he did win three national titles in 2010 that included not only shot, but also the discus. Whiting is only the second field event athlete nominated for the Bowerman in the two year history (other was Destiny Hooker). He will match up with the duo from Oregon, Andy Wheating and Ashton Eaton.
