Derek Drouin 7'7.25" is #4 HJ in the World

Feb 9, 2013

Derek Drouin took over the collegiate lead in the high jump with the fourth-best mark in the world in 2013. Drouin cleared 2.32m (7-7.25) for the win in the high jump, taking over sole possession of the lead in Division I this season and putting himself fourth on the world list. In his final meet as a Hoosier in Gladstein Fieldhouse, Drouin broke a 25 year old facility record, held by Mark Reed at 2.31m (7-7). Drouin's clearance marks the first time he has cleared a height greater than 7-7 since injuring his foot on March 26, 2011. Drouin took three attempts at 2.35m (7-8.5), which would've ranked second all-time in the indoor collegiate high jump. Drouin's career best is 2.33m (7-7.75), which he cleared at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2011.
