Stephanie Charnigo new name in US 1500m scene after winning 2012 Moncton NTL
Jul 5, 2012
You may have not noticed Stephanie Charnigo's name this season. She came into 2012 with a 4:29 PR to her name. In her first race of the season she dropped nine seconds off the mark. In early June she ran a low race with teammates at the NYNJ Track Club and dropped another ten, running 4:10 and ranking her top 20 in the US. All of a sudden the former 800 specialist had a new event. She made the Olympic Trials in the event but did not qualify past the first round. Still raw in running the event, Charnigo is ready to stop getting experience and start running fast. With an 800 meter background and the ability to close, this former D2 standout is a new name to follow at the 1500 meter distance. Check out Steph's win in the Moncton 1500m
