Kate Avery leads to make the race and finishes 3rd at NCAA XC 2013

Throw your game plan out the window in Terre Haute. Early in the women's race, Iona's Kate Avery made her motives clear - to go for the win. Feeling good off a slow early pace, Avery started the always exciting game of "catch me if you can" as she broke away from the front pack. But even after a big move, Avery didn't fade and rallied to an incredible third place finish overall. Though it may seem as a surprise, we've been waiting for Avery to finally have a big race. We briefly profiled the Gael back in September and she delivered at NCAAs.
