GREENSBORO, N.C.—Nine members of the Virginia track and field team have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Teams, the conference announced Friday (June 28). Morgane Gay, Abbey Karin, Jordan Lavender, Kathleen Stevens and Catherine White were listed on the women’s team, while Kevin Anding, Andy Fahringer, Sean Keveren and Marcus Robinson were recognized on the men’s squad.

For Anding, Gay and Keveren, this is the second time they have been listed on the All-ACC Academic outdoor squad. Anding was a four-time indoor honoree, while Lavender was named to the 2012 indoor team.

Gay, a native of Bethesda, Md., earned second-team All-America honors with a 11th-place finish in the womenÂ’s 1,500 meters at the NCAA Championships. She earned two silver medals in the 1,500m and 5,000 meters at the ACC Championships in April. At the national meet, Gay became the sixth Division I female to compete at the NCAA cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field national meets in each of the last two academic years.

A native of Byfield, Mass., Karin advanced to the NCAA East Preliminaries in the womenÂ’s javelin after earning a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships. Karin also won the javelin at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational.

A native of Houston, Texas, Anding was a member of the menÂ’s 4x400 relay that captured the ACC crown and broke the school record at the NCAA East Preliminaries (3:07.11). Anding also finished sixth in the 400m at the conference meet.

Fahringer, a native of Whitehall, Pa., won the men’s javelin championship at the Penn Relays and set a new school record of 75.19m (246’ 8”) at the Virginia Challenge. Fahringer earned silver in the event at the ACC Championships.

Robinson earned first-team All-America honors in both seasons, placing fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships and sixth at the national outdoor meet. He won the ACC Championship for both indoor and outdoor and took home the menÂ’s triple jump championship at the Penn Relays.
