Shortly following her second NCAA title in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase Emma Coburn signed a professional contract with New Balance.

Coburn’s winning time of 9:28.26 was enough to hold of second place Colleen Quigley of Florida State.

Last summer Coburn represented the USA in the steeplechase at the 2012 London Olympics.

Now as her career as a Colorado Buffalo athlete comes to a close, Coburn follows good company.  Coburn is the second CU Buff steepler to join New Balance.  Jenny Simpson, formerly Barringer, was the first.

Dan Petty of the Denver Post said, “She will remain at CU as a volunteer assistant coach and will continue to work with coaches Mark Wetmore and Heather Burroughs.”
