In the women's race, Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya took down Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia (mixed gender WR holder of 2:11:53) to win the TCS London Marathon in a women's only world record time of 2:16:16.


41 year old Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia     came in second place in the men's race running 2:04:15, only 14 seconds behind winner Alexander Mutiso of Kenya.
