PORTLAND, ME (September 19, 2011)-Millrose Games officials announced today that Shamrock Sports & Entertainment has been signed as the agency of record for the 105th Millrose Games. Shamrock will work to establish corporate partnerships on behalf of the legendary meet which is scheduled to take place Saturday, February 11th 2012 at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in Upper Manhattan.

 

The Portland, ME based agency is led by President and Founder Brian Corcoran, and specializes in developing profitable partnerships between blue chip brands and sport properties.

 

Corcoran believes the legendary meet offers a unique value proposition to potential sponsors, "The Millrose Games is one of the premier track and field meets in the world. The intimate and historic atmosphere of the Armory, the fast, record-setting track, the promise of an Olympic preview and the bright lights of New York will generate a new level of excitement for the meet and will appeal to fans, athletes and sponsors alike."

 

The announcement comes soon after the recent appointment of Ray Flynn as the new Meet Director. The Armory Track & Field Foundation, the owners of the Millrose Games, believes that Shamrock alongside Flynn will reinvigorate the meet and return it to its roots.

 

The Executive Director of the Armory Foundation and President of the Millrose Games, Dr. Norbert Sander sees the new partnership as another positive step forward, "Shamrock offers the Armory and the Millrose Games the sales tools needed to establish mutually beneficial marketing alliances that are critical to the health and future of our meet. The Millrose Games will be the highlight of the season at the Armory, which hosts more than 100 meets and 125,000 athletes annually. Traditionally held on Friday night, the meet will move to Saturday this year to allow for a day session with high school, collegiate and masters events. The evening session will feature elite world class athletes and Olympic hopefuls from around the world and will include the legendary Wanamaker Mile.
