NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Wednesday the week two results of the national cross country coaches’ poll for NCAA Division III. North Central's men and Middlebury's women remain the No. 1 teams in the nation according to the nation's coaches. The men of Washington (Mo.) and the women's team of MIT moved to the nation's top three for the first time this season.

 

AROUND THE POLLS

 

MEN

-- No. 5 SUNY Geneseo is in the nation's top five for the first time this season, as is No. 9 MIT to the top ten.

-- No. 16 Chicago and No. 19 Tufts also reached season-best posts in the poll this week

-- New to the top 35 are No. 25 St. Olaf, No. 26 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 31 Albertus Magnus, No. 32 Allegheny, and No. 35 Emory

-- Again, the UAA leads with seven conference members in the top 35. The NESCAC follows with five.

 

WOMEN

-- No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps made a move from seventh to No. 4 this week, a season-high listing on the poll.

-- No. 9 Calvin was 15th last week and now are in the top ten for the first time this year.

-- Making their season debut to the poll this week are No. 24 Tufts, No. 32 Case Western, No. 33 Whitman, and No. 35 Chicago.
