NCAA womenÂ’s entries list announced
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Committee has released the accepted entries list for the 2012 NCAA Championships to be contested March 9-10 at the Jacksons Track in Nampa, Idaho. The second-ranked University of Arkansas
womenÂ’s track and field team collected 10 national entries spread among eight student-athletes and two relays. With its qualifiers, Arkansas is set to have scoring opportunities in eight events.
Six of the RazorbacksÂ’ 10 entries were NCAA automatic qualifiers with Stephanie Brown at 800 meters, Tara Diebold in the pole vault, Kristen Gillespie in the mile, Tina Sutej
in the pole vault and both 4x400-meter and distance-medley relays. Brown also had an NCAA auto mark in the mile but is not entered in the event at the national meet. Sutej, the defending national indoor champion in the pole vault, enters the weekend as the
national leader in the event.
ArkansasÂ’ remaining four at-large entries are Makeba Alcide in the pentathlon, Regina George at 400 meters, Whitney Jones at 400 meters and Ivanique Kemp in the 60-meter hurdles.
Kemp qualified for the national meet with her performance at the Arkansas Last Chance meet where she broke the school record with a time of 8.13. Her previous season best entering the meet of 8.27 would not have qualified. Of ArkansasÂ’ individual qualifiers,
Kemp is the lone Razorback set to make her debut at the NCAA Championships.
The 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships will be streamed live on ESPN3.com Friday, March 9 from 6:30-10:45 p.m. (CT) and Saturday, March 10 from 7-10:15 p.m. NCAA.com and broncosports.com
will stream portions of the meet not covered by ESPN3 beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. A tape delay broadcast of the national meet will air Sunday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
A new team ranking from the USTFCCCA will be released Tuesday based solely on the NCAA entries lists. For more information regarding Razorback track and field or University of Arkansas
